The PortBin TrashTrawl is a waste collector designed for rivers with a water current in the range up to 3 knots (1,5 m/s)
The TrashTrawl uses high-speed booms to guide waste into a special collector. The best part? It doesn't require any additional energy, as it's powered by the river's own current. This concept is inspired by the same principles used in high-speed boom systems for oil spill recovery.
The TrashTrawl can gather large amounts of waste, all thanks to the river's current. It's designed to not interfere with boats or other river traffic, making it a friendly addition to any river ecosystem.
(If abselutly necessarry we can on request combine a boom section with bubble curtain, but this is very energy consuming and hard to make sustainable)
The collected waste is stored in large mesh sacks, 1000 litre, which can be easily emptied once they're full. This makes the waste management process straightforward and efficient.
The TrashTrawl works 24/7 consistently collecting floating waste in the river
The Booms are modular, and can adapt to different widths
With the right angle on the booms and with the right mooring The TrashTrawl can handle up to 3 knots on the water
Capable of withstanding significant tidal variations and harsh physical conditions.
The solution features a 1000-liter capacity, reducing the need for emptying cycles
Both the booms and pontoons are made of recycled PEHD
The only operation needed is emptying the net, which is simple using a small crane
Our solutions engage the public and showcase your environmental commitment
No external energy needed
More than 54 000 units collected yearly.
